NEWS – May 29, 2023
TORONTO – Anthony Furey was today delighted to announce the latest in a series of senior-level endorsements for his candidacy for Mayor.
“The Honourable John Baird served – and continues to serve – our country with great distinction,” Furey said. “He knows how government at the highest levels works inside and out, and I greatly value his counsel as we work to fix what’s wrong with the City we love.”
In a statement, Baird said: “I care passionately about Toronto. I’m strongly supporting Anthony Furey to be our next Mayor. He’ll clean up the city, he’ll deal with congestion, and he’ll bring common sense back to City Hall.”
“You know something exciting is happening in this race when so many prominent people have come forward to endorse my candidacy,” Furey said. “The status quo isn’t working anymore – and most of my opponents wrote the book on the status quo.”
Other notable endorsements Furey has earned so far include:
- Internationally renowned psychologist, author and lecturer Dr. Jordan Peterson
- veteran federal Liberal MP Dennis Mills
- celebrity Toronto chef Mark McEwan
- former federal Finance Minister Joe Oliver

Advance praise for Anthony Furey’s forthcoming Mayoral platform:
A CITY WORTH FIGHTING FOR
“I have decided who I am voting for in the upcoming mayor’s race. All of the people who are showing up in the polls and debates are people who were there for the past number of years as councillors, MPPs, MPs and police chiefs. So who got us into – or did not solve – the problems that are of concern to voters? That leaves me with one person, and that is Anthony Furey. I think he has good ideas and he isn’t a part of the system. All of the others are the system.” – leading NEWSTALK 1010 commentator Jerry Agar
“I have been very happy to see the entrance of Anthony Furey into the race for Mayor of Toronto, and would like to express my unqualified support for his campaign.” – international author and lecturer Dr. Jordan Peterson (to his over 4 million followers)
“I care passionately about Toronto. I’m strongly supporting Anthony Furey to be our next Mayor. He’ll clean up the city, he’ll deal with congestion, and he’ll bring common sense back to City Hall.” – former Foreign Affairs Minister and Treasury Board President John Baird
“That Furey has jumped ahead of Bradford and Hunter shows he’s on the move.” – Toronto Sun columnist Joe Warmington, May 26, 2023
“Public office is about service to people, and I commend anyone who has the passion to run. But it takes a special, authentic talent and skill set to do the job. Anthony Furey is the candidate who is built for the job.” – veteran Liberal MP Dennis Mills
“Toronto is facing a lot of challenges these days, I believe Anthony Furey is up to the job. He can clean up Toronto, make it the clean city we once knew. He can straighten Toronto out.” – Toronto celebrity chef Mark McEwan
